We are a trade publication focused on providing interesting up-to-date content relevant to independent restaurant owners. We reflect a readership of dedicated, business-savvy individuals, from around the United States, who are passionate about food.

If you have an idea for an Independent Restaurateur story, please consider the following:

- Consider your audience. We print stories that provide insight, innovation, and inspiration for business owners, and we are open to many different types of stories, from business acumen to marketing advice to features pieces on interesting restaurants in your area.

- Be original. iR does not reprint articles that have already appeared in other publications.

- Be concise. If you have an idea, please submit a short paragraph to the editor with some background on your idea and why the story is relevant and interesting. Final stories are short, only about 600 – 800 words. When submitting a story, try to keep your word count in or near this range.

- Be open. If you don’t have an idea in mind but would still like to write for us, please feel free to email the editor. Submit or link to writing samples, your portfolio, and/or your resume, if possible.

- We are an online publication, which means we rely on engaging, dynamic, excellent photos. Please be prepared to submit at least one (preferably more) high-resolution image with your final story.
